In early 1995, a small group of individuals ... primarily executives in and individual owners of some local area businesses ... came together in a social setting. Over the course of several months their discussions turned to business, and then to the idea of forming a networking group. Thus became the North Jersey Business Council!
Ten member companies were accepted into
the NJBC during its first year. It has continued to attract new
businesses ever since, maintaining a stable base of companies.
Staying true to its purpose to
provide and share business leads and introductions, the NJBC has
developed a number of procedures. During bimonthly meetings, members
participate in roundtable discussions, sharing ideas about the marketing,
management and daily running of their businesses. Outside of meetings,
members are encouraged to visit with each other through a list of rotating
onsite visits, as well as lead generation and volunteer activities.
The NJBC attributes part
of its ongoing vitality to the oversight of its member-elected Executive Board, and the services of its Executive Director. With the
commitment of its members, the NJBC continues as a model networking
organization for today and beyond.
